Designing a product is designing a relationship.
- Steve Rogers
Happy Almost-Valentine’s Day! Hopefully you ordered your romantically-themed Schticker on time… you know, all our products really do represent a special relationship between design and owner. Especially if you do create your own custom design in our Lab. Of course, relationships between ourselves and other humans are the most important connections we will experience in our lifetimes, but let’s not discount the importance we place on everyday objects that become part of our lives! We will focus on continuing to produce designs and products that you will want to incorporate into your office and home. And hey, if you haven’t tried it yet, head to the Design Lab and make your own Schticker; the beginning of a beautiful relationship.

Style is engineering that gives you freedom.
- Chris Bangle
Chris Bangle was the Chief of Design for BMW Group, where he was responsible for the BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce automobiles. So this guy clearly knows a thing or two about style! Design offers endless possibilities, and we want you to be able to embrace your freedom to express whatever personal style suits you best. This is why you gotta check out the Schtickers Design Lab and engineer your own custom creation!

There are so many cool things to explore in the history of design and architecture. One of our favorite slices of architectural history is the Case Study House program, which ran from 1945-1966. Arts & Architecture magazine commissioned architects to design and build high-efficency, modern houses and some of the results were just mindblowing!
One of the houses we’re most fond of is the Stahl House in West Hollywood. So iconic!
A&A actually has a really great, comprehensive overview of the houses on their website, you should definitely check it out but you have to register with their site. If you don’t want to go to that trouble, Wikipedia has a nice guide as well! Very inspirational for home design and decor, even to this day! There are so many ways to be innovative and creative, it makes us so glad we work in the design world!
Which Case Study House is YOUR favorite?

The worst thing you can do to anybody trying to be creative is to demand participation in their vision.
- Chuck Klosterman
Author/journalist Chuck Klosterman is full of opinions and wisdom, whether he is talking about music, sports, pop culture, or… creativity! He’s right, each of us is inherently original and other people may not understand our artistic visions. Everyone has an individual design sense and here at Schtickers we wholeheartedly support that. Make your own creation in our Design Lab and we promise none of us will demand any participation in your vision, besides making it a reality for you!

Our love of patterns has been well-documented in this blog, and we are back to proclaim our admiration for yet another wonderful pattern designer!
Lotta Jansdotter is a Scandinavian-born artist who has a love for screenprinting, especially creations that represent the beauty of nature. She has a number of books out and even holds classes in her Brooklyn studio, which of course we are all dying to attend!
You can check out her website, which showcases a variety of Lotta’s accomplishments. We can’t get enough of her gorgeous patterns, and we can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!

Human salvation lies in the hands of the creatively maladjusted.
- Martin Luther King, Jr.
Happy MLK Day! Of course there are many famous quotes we could have picked from this amazing man, but we like this lesser-known one. Creative minds are more apt to stir the pot and make changes in society. If you are unsatisfied with the way things are, dare to challenge the norm and you can really make a difference for the better!

A big aspect of design is color. Without it, imagine how drab so many of our creations would be! And the lovely thing is, there are oh so many hues to choose from… it can be almost overwhelming!
That’s where Pantone comes in. This company created the Pantone Matching System (or PMS) that helps designers in all sorts of industries keep their shades consistent. So useful! Pantone has revolutionized the fields of graphic arts and fashion with its system, and also offers special paints and plastics so designers know their color choices are going to come out exactly as expected – no nasty surprises when you’re with Pantone!
Pantone has also achieved a sort of cult status in the design community. People love to pick their favorite Pantone colors… sort of an “in-the-know” topic of conversation. There are even coffee mugs and other Pantone merchandise with the codes of its most popular colors!
As a final bit of trivia for everyone: Pantone recently named turquoise (15-5519) the color of the year for 2010! Quite the hefty title. We trust Pantone’s judgment though, they haven’t done us wrong so far!

Good resolutions are simply checks that men draw on a bank where they have no account.
- Oscar Wilde
How many of us make resolutions we know are pipe dreams? Go on a diet, save money, start a new hobby… they’re all good ideas, but often more difficult than we expect! As we’ve said, at Schtickers we want to assist you in at least one of your goals (sadly, not the dieting part, we like going out to lunch too much): organizing your life! Try a Whiteboard or Blackboard Wall Schticker for your to-do lists, or perhaps a custom laptop skin for your business’s laptops so you can finally get your logo out there like you’ve been meaning to.
Finally, a resolution you can keep. That’s something to definitely take to the bank.

We are just such big fans of anything that artistically strays from the norm. Moo Cards definitely accomplishes that. Here’s an idea: Go buy some personalized MiniCards from them, then design a personalized Schticker with us! What an experience!
And if you somehow don’t like Moo Cards, we guess you can always go to this guy for business card advice. HA!

Cheers to a New Year and another chance for us to get it right.
- Oprah Winfrey
Well, nobody can argue with the words of the great Oprah. And you know what, she definitely has a point. New Years is the perfect time to reflect and reevaluate, and make a fresh start! For a lot of us, that means reorganizing and tackling big projects around the house. It may not be the most fun activity ever, but it feels so good to de-clutter and repriorizite! Let us help; we have so many fantastic products that can help you reach your organizational goals.
Try a Blackboard or Whiteboard Wall Schticker; completely erasable, removable, and reusable, you can make an ongoing list of goals and stick it anywhere visible to help motivate you! Make Oprah proud!
